Ekman & Co \u00e4r ett av v\u00e4rldens st\u00f6rsta handelshus i skogsbranschen. Verksamheten bedriver handel med pappersmassa, papper, returfiber och biobr\u00e4nsle, d\u00e4r massa \u00e4r huvuddelen och Ekman v\u00e4rldsledande. F\u00f6retaget levererade 2017, fantastiska 4,7 miljoner ton massa och papper, och oms\u00e4ttningen var 20 miljarder kronor inkl. agenturverksamheten. Bolaget har ca 280 anst\u00e4llda och styrs fr\u00e5n fyra hubbar, Miami, Hong Kong, Z\u00fcrich och G\u00f6teborg. Bolagets s\u00e4te \u00e4r G\u00f6teborg. Aff\u00e4rer g\u00f6rs i ett hundratal l\u00e4nder genom lokalkontor och agenter. Ekman & Co grundades 1802. Huvudverksamheten var under 1800-talet export av svenskt j\u00e4rn, d\u00e4r bolaget svarade f\u00f6r en betydande del av de mellansvenska brukens utskeppning \u00f6ver G\u00f6teborg. Fr\u00e5n slutet av 1800-talet blev massa och papper en allt viktigare verksamhet och j\u00e4rn- och st\u00e5lf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljningen upph\u00f6rde. Bolaget var ocks\u00e5 tidvis \u00e4gare av massa- och pappersbruk. Familjen f\u00f6rlorade kontroll och \u00e4gande i bolaget 1965 till investmentbolaget S\u00e4fve\u00e5n i G\u00f6teborg. N\u00e4r detta s\u00e5 sm\u00e5ningom landade i Volvosf\u00e4ren och blev Catena, som sedan renodlades till Bilia och bilf\u00f6rs\u00e4ljning, fick familjen m\u00f6jlighet att \u00e5ter komma in som \u00e4gare. Detta skedde 1995 genom ett konsortium av Peter, Oscar, Matts, Claes och Harald Ekman, Carl Langenskj\u00f6ld samt Oscar och Anna Ekmans donationsfond, Oscar och Maria Ekmans donationsfond, Alba Langenskj\u00f6lds stiftelse, Skandia Investment samt MVI senare Atle. \u00c5r 2006 l\u00f6ste familjen ut\u00a0de externa parterna. Efter en 30-\u00e5rig parentes \u00e4gs bolaget \u00e5ter\u00a0av familjen Ekman med stiftelser till\u00a065% samt\u00a0personalen till 35%.<\/p>\n
